Top 6 Free Personal Finance Software

November 7th, 2009

Now there are lots of software available for both online and desktop. You could easily track your personal finance with these software. And another reason to use is that are free. As a personal finance blogger I am recommending free software because it will be not a wise decision if you spend money to save. (I didn’t find any remarkable differences between paid and free soft).

On my last post “Are You Tracking Your Personal Finance?” I have said that I will write post reviewing some most popular free PF software.

Online Personal Finance Software:

You could use it from anywhere you want, You don’t need to think about your personal information security, But its have less functionality then desktop software.

  1. Mint: One of the most popular online service. I really like this service not only for it’s simplicity but also it can update your bank account & credit card transaction automatically everyday. To use mint you have to provide your accounts information and your all information will be secured there. You can take email and SMS reminder service from Mint.

  2. Geezeo: By using it you can set your budget easily. It has simple interface and vast community network to help you.

  3. Clear Checkbook: It provide facilities as same as other online software. You can easily set budget, track expenses etc. It can download QIF or OFX data from financial institutions.

Desktop VS Online

Desktop Personal Finance Software:

You have to install it on your computer, You have to protect your information yourself.

  1. Gnu Cash: Its a open source PF soft. You could track your income, invest, expenses, bank account easily. And you would add multiple account easily. But it’s little bit harder to operate.

  2. Ace Money Lite: You could handle it easily but the main fact is that Ace Money Lite does not allow multiple accounts. If you want multiple accounts you have to pay $30 once.

  3. PL Cash: It have same feature as most desktop personal finance software have. It allow you to read your data by any word processing software. You also can print check using industry-standard checks.

*Supported Operating System (OS): Windows, Linux, Mac.
